Prestigious Miami Beach La Gorce Island Home Sold for $30 Million

Nothing spells success quite like basking in the warmth of the Miami sun on a 70,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion. While the transferring of multi-million dollar real estate is nothing new along the shorelines of Miami Beach, the recent sale of 42 Lagorce Circle has earned the title of the highest priced home ever sold on La Gorce Island and is tied for the third most expensive sale ever in Miami-Dade County.

An EWM Realty representative stated that the home once belonged to former Miami banker David L. Paul. Paul was incarcerated in the 90s following his conviction for misuse of bank funds while chairman of CenTrust Savings Bank.

Around Miami, the property is more commonly known as Castello del Sol. It boasts 11 bedrooms, 14 full baths, 3 half baths, 349 feet of pristine Biscayne Bay water frontage, a yacht dockage and sweeping views of the city skyline. Its price tag of $30 million seems like a steal for the 70,914-square-foot lot. Also on the grounds are a one-bedroom guest house, a two-bedroom/two-bath staff apartment, and a guard house.

If that isn’t enough, the eight-bedroom, 9.5-bath house features hand-painted ceilings, gold-leaf trim, two kitchens, a library, a theater and a rooftop lounge for sunrise and sunset gazing. The property—dubbed one of the most unique on the eastern seaboard—was both sold and purchased by corporations.
