While most of the country is still deeply entrenched in winter weather, I'm ready for a little spring! A great way to bring a bit of sunshine into your home during all year is to include floral prints in the design scheme of your rooms. While this might conjure up thoughts of your grandmother's house, floral prints are often a key element in updated homes featuring modern charm.


A floral area rug introduces virtually the only pattern seen in this room, and here it is the element that brings the design to the next level.


Rooms that mix two distinct prints can be visually dynamic. Here is a room that does just this through floral drapery panels that are mixed with a large scale zigzag rug.


This is one of the most intriguing uses of a floral print I have ever seen. A ledge placed on the wall above a stove divides the area in half, with tile lining the lower section and a print the upper portion. It is an interesting approach that works.


The large-scale floral print centered across the valances and featured on the drapery panels creates an interesting contrast against the Union Jack pillow and zebra print rug.
